Merluza in Birmingham offers a precise 15 minute toner gloss that neutralises brass, refines shade, and restores mirror-like shine between colour appointments. It is ideal after highlights, balayage, or a lightening service when tone has drifted warmer than you prefer.

You will get a quick consult to read your current level and undertone, then a tailored demi or acidic gloss is applied to clean, towel-dried hair. Processing is closely monitored, then we seal and condition so the result looks polished and grows out softly.

Duration & Appointment Timing

The toner service is 15 minutes at the backwash. Allow around 30 to 35 minutes door to door for check in, consult and a quick dry check. If you want a full finish, add a Blow-Dry to your booking. New to colour at Merluza, switching brand, or no test on file in the last 6 to 12 months. Please book a patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment.

Aftercare & Maintenance

Use colour safe shampoo and conditioner, limit heat, and protect from UV to keep the tone crisp. Purple or blue care can help maintain cool results on blonde or brunette. Expect longevity of 4 to 8 weeks depending on wash frequency, water quality and porosity. Rebook your gloss every 8 to 16 weeks, or sooner if you prefer a consistent cool finish.

Do I need a patch test for a toner at Merluza?

Yes if you are new to Merluza, changing colour brand, or your last test was over 6 to 12 months ago. Book it at least 48 hours before your toner so we can proceed safely.

Will a toner lighten my hair?

A toner refines tone and adds shine. It does not lift your natural or coloured base. For lightening you would need a bleach or highlights service, then tone for a refined finish.

How long will the result last?

Typically 4 to 8 weeks. Longevity depends on wash frequency, heat styling, UV, water quality and hair porosity. Using colour safe care and heat protection helps extend results.

Is a blow-dry included in the 15 minute service?

The core service includes application, processing and a quick dry check. A full Blow-Dry or styling is not included. Add it to your booking if you want a finished style.

Is a toner safe for fragile or over-processed hair?

Yes. We use gentle pH balanced formulas and monitor processing closely. If hair is highly compromised we will tailor timing or suggest a bond builder add-on and a treatment plan.
